Lily Of The Valley Leaves Have Suddenly Turned Yellow And Roots Have Rotted

Question From: Plymouth, Michigan, United States
Q: Almost overnight, leaves on some of our Lilly of the Valley are turning yellow and the roots have rotted. We live in lower Michigan, had a wet & cool spring and now have hot dry weather. We've kept the flower beds watered during the hot, dry spell. 1.) Is it too late to use a fungicide? 2.) We've pulled out all of the ones that have died. Should we continue this practice?

Do treat the plants with a fungicide according to the package directions and continue to remove the dead plants. Water the plants from the base - enough to keep the soil moist but not sodden. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
