Question From: VIRGINIA
Q: My Lily of the Valley began to send up shoots...the next time I looked at them they had been “cut off” and were lying on the ground...any idea what gives??? Our property is not in your typical suburban area...we have deer, geese, voles, muskrats & expect rabbits...for the most part am gardening with plants native to our area...
A: My guess is either young deer or rabbits saw these tender new leaves and took a nibble. Finding them unpalatable they dropped them on the ground. As the animal populations grow and their natural food sources are disappearing they are changing their feeding habits. Best Nancy and Happy Yarding.
