Question From: Port Washington, New York, United States
Q: My linden tree is 50 years old and sits in middle of my front yard. For past 2 weeks we have had droppings similar to sawdust--then we will get droppings of tiny beads followed by green nose pods. What can I do to reduce this mess that I have to clean each & every day. Inasmuch as I am 80 years of age - it is quite a problem.
A: Your tree probably has borers. I recommend you get an onsite inspection from a professional for an accurate Id and recommendation for control. These worm like larvae make holes in the tree - opening for disease. To find a certified arborist in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
