Magnolia Tree Leaves Turn Brown And Drop Off In Hot Dry Climate

Question From: K. Farm - Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Q: I bought a magnolia tree & have keep it potted as I may be moving & I want to take it with me, plus I am trying to find the best location for it in the Las Vegas sun. Both last year & this year new leaves come out continuously but the turn brown from the edges in within a week and then drop off, so the tree never looks even halfway healthy. Last year it only received afternoon sun, this year I moved it in front to only receive early morning sun, but same results.

There is no best location for a Magnolia living in a pot in Las Vegas. Lack of water and excessive heat are killing it. Contact your county extension for recommendations as to the best trees to grow in your area. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
