Q: Our grandson to an ax to our old maple tree...help!!!

Looks like it is a very large tree. Let Nature take it's course. Using sprays or paint on injuries to trees is no longer recommended. It actually does more harm then good. I doesn't look like a fatal wound. Keeping the tree watered when it is dry for a couple of weeks will help. Lock up the ax. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
