Marigold Buds Will Not Bloom

Question From: Trenton, New Jersey, United States
Q: We have huge marigold plants that have had large buds for over a month (see image). They simply will not bloom. The seeds were harvested from last year.

If the plants were allowed to dry out to the point of wilting the buds may fail to open. Best Nancy
