Question From: C. Newton - Chesapeake, Virginia, United States
Q: Hello. The leaves on my merigolds are pale and have little white spots. The spots are just on the top of the leaf. Not gray like mildew, but white. The blooms are great and the plants are growing well. The leaves are well formed but just look sick. Afternoon sun, zone 7. Any ideas.
A:
If the spots are tiny dots, you probably have spider mites. Hosing the plants with a stiff spray of water will knock them off. Repeat the process every 3 to 5 days. New leaves should be clear. You can use a spray, but clear water is easier on the plants. The secret here regardless of what you do is to repeat the treatment time and time again. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
