Marigolds Are Encased In White Web-Like Sac With Tiny White Spots

Question From: L. Windsor - Keller, Texas, United States
Q: What about Marigolds in an outside Pot. They have been completely encased in a white web-like sac with minute white spots on it ... too small to see with the naked eye (at least mine!) These webs are killing my marigolds.

A: Sounds like spider mites. Hose them off with a strong stream of water. They thrive when it is dry so spraying the foliage with water will help. A spray containing Spinosad can used. Read the label and follow the directions carefully. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
