Marigolds In Small Pots Have Deteriorated Rapidly Since Purchase

Question From: J. Ryan - NEW JERSEY
Q: What happened to my beautiful marigolds? This plant was thriving with beautiful bright healthy flowers and buds when I got it less than 2 weeks ago. Within a week of being in my care it started to look worse and worse. Now this. I know it needs a bigger pot but at this point I don't even know if I should bother. I bought it thinking they are hardy plants, I never see them dying anywhere. I cant seem to maintain healthy annuals.

I don't have a crystal ball, but my guess is your pot is too small, the soil does not drain well and your plant suffered from crown rot.. Cheap potting soil is no bargain. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
