Mexican Marigold Leaves Are Slightly Curled And Have Orange Dots Around Edges

Question From: S. Moss - Oakland, California, United States
Q: Hi Nancy, I have this sweet baby mexican marigold plant growing from a sprig that I rooted in a jar of water. It is growing new leaves and seems very happy. I did, however, notice that the leaves have these tiny perfect orange dots along the edges and the leaves are slightly curled. Do you have any idea? It is definitely not insect related. Thanks!

A: Sounds like rust to me. Take a photo to an independent garden center or nursery for a positive ID and control. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
