Milkweed Has Brown Spots On Undersides Of Leaves Which Turn Yellow And Fall Off

Question From: Babson Park, Florida, United States
Q: I have what I believe is swamp milkweed. It has brown spots on the underside of the leaves which turn yellow and fall off. What's happining?

A: Sounds like the plant has Milkweed fungus. Cut the plant back and carefully dispose of any infected leaves. Go to an independent garden center that carries Monarch friendly products to find a spray. Might be better to start all over. Plant in a different area. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
