Mountain Laurel Has Odd Growth Dangling From Branches

Question From: TEXAS
Q: A mountain laurel in the park has and odd thing dangling from the branches . It is about 8 inches long and 3 inches wide, has ruffles along the edges in some places. Someone said it was possibly a seed pod mutation but I would like to know for sure because it is so odd.

I suggest you take these photos to an independent nursery in your area for a consult. You might also send them to your county horticulture agent. Botanical gardens are another good source. There are many in Texas. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
