Mulch Has Patches Of White Milky Substance

Question From: E. Matousek - Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
Q: there are patches of a white milky substance surfacing in my mulch around my landscaping. What is it, and what should I do?

I believe it's slime mold or another member of the mold family. Fluffing up the mulch and allowing air to dry the area is the only cure. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
