Need Vine To Cover North Facing Wall In Very Cold Climate

Question From: L. Bradshaw - COLORADO
Q: I NEED TO COVER AN UGLY WALL.I LIVE IN COLORADO WHERE TEMPS DIP TO -25. THE WALL I NEED TO COVER IS ALWAYS IN THE SHADE AND IS A NORTH FACING WALL. iT WILL GET PLENTY OF WATER(DRIP SYSTEM).I AM CONSIDERING AN ENGLISH IVY OR A TRUMPET HONEYSUCKLE. ANY IDEAS?

Lois, I'm not sure Ivy can withstand your winters. I suggest you visit your local independent garden center and chat with the manager/buyer of landscape plants. He/she will have some experience with vines used in this capacity in your location and should be able to give you some recommendations from first hand experience. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
