New Growth Falling Off Of English Ivy

Question From: L. Wells - KANSAS
Q: I just bought a english Ivy. It looks healthy other than the new growth seems to be falling off. I just put it in a new pot with new soil. And it is in filtered light. The new leaflets turn brown and fall off the rest of the plant seems to be fine.

A:

Lori, Ivy does not do well in dry areas, so place the plant on a large tray of water filled with stones so the pot does not touch the water. Keep the soil just moist, not sodden. It needs bright indirect light. Spider mite may be an issue. Give it a shower ever couple of days. I would not fertilize it until you see healthy new growth. Good Luck. Nancy
