New Leaves And Buds Of Mature Yellow Honeysuckle Vine Are Misshapen

Question From: O'Fallon, Illinois, United States
Q: My mature (several years old) yellow honeysuckle vine has been healthy and bloomed profusely this spring. However now the new leaves and flower buds are misshapen. I see no signs of insects, webs, or powdery substance. I'm in zone 6a. What's my problem and how do I treat this?

A: Any chance it might have been hit by a herbicide spray? That will cause distortion. If you or a service used it in the past couple of weeks that would do it. If not get a good magnifying glass and check the undersides of leaves, Newly hatched critters can be very hard to see with the naked eye. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy

Comment: Thanks for your response. I've trimmed off all the damaged parts of my honeysuckle. So I'll wait and if they reappear I'll go with the magnifying glass. Rosemary
