Nicotiana Doing Fine But Verbena Scraggly And Browning With Few Flowers

Question From: MISSOURI
Q: I have verbena in a pot with Nicotiana. The Nicotiana is flourishing, but the vebena is scraggly, browning and very few flowers. I had a similar problem last year with verbena planted with petunias. What am I doing wrong?

Nita, Too much water could be an issue. Also verbena needs lots of sun. Nicotiana, not so much. Too much nitrogen fertilizer could also be an issue. This plant needs dead heading to keep it blooming. These are my best guesses. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy.
