Question From: M. Curry - KANSAS
Q: why are my ruby slippers oakleaf hydrangea branches so fragile? I would say brittle and break easily if one/pet passes by too closely.
The common problem is lack of water throughout the season. Hydrangeas thrive in soil that is kept moderately moist at all times and is not allowed to dry out. I would fertilize it with Holly Tone at the recommended rate this spring and mulch around it after the soil warms. Do keep it watered. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
