Oakleaf Hydrangea Has Shoots Coming Up From Around The Plant

Question From: Grayslake, Illinois, United States
Q: I have an Oakleaf Hydrangea that has a lot of new "shoots" coming up from the ground around the plant. Should I prune these back to the ground?

Most folks let the new shoots grow to increase the size of the plant. If you decide you want to thin it out simply cut the shoots off at the roots. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
