Old American Elm Tree Dropped Half Of Its Leaves In April

Question From: P. Parker - MISSOURI
Q: elm tree is dropping green leaves on stem which looks like it broke off in April tree has lost half of leaves what could it be tree is old American elm

There is no way I can answer this question. Take sample of leaves and photos to an independent garden center or nursery that sells Elms. Also check with your county extension. History of tree would also be valuable. Age, soil, location, care. and exposure are all important inputs. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
