Old London Plane Tree Seems To Be Leaking Sap And Getting Brown Stains From Higher Up

Question From: D. Allen - Rocky Ford, Colorado, United States
Q: Is there an insect that may bore into the tree and leave a sap run down the tree and kill it? I don't know what a lacebug or anthracnose or cankerstain is. We have a tree that seems to be leaking with a brown stain down from above that appears to be from something boring into it. We don't want to lose the tree because it is very old and big. Thanks Donna

Donna, You need to get an onsite inspection from a trained tree professional ASAP! To find a certified arborist in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code in the box. Best Nancy
