PLANTS FOR GRAY WATER SEPTIC FIELDS WITH SHALLOW ROOTS AND HIGH MOISTURE

Question From: R. Stephens - KENTUCKY
Q: What plants can I plant in a gray water septic field. Plants with shallow roots so they wouldn’t bother any septic work. Ones that could live in very moist soil. Plants that might suck up a lot of water and still florish.

A: The University of Kentucky Extension Service has good information on planting over septic systems (www.ca.uky.edu) that is pertinent to your state. Yew Dell Botanic Garden is another good source. However, if you Google Botanic gardens in Kentucky you will find several more. Best Nancy and Happy Yardening.
