Question From: C. Howard - Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
Q: Hi Nancy. Last year we planted a pachysandra bed under some trees. In the spring, the plants seemed to die back before blooming, as if they experienced winter burn. We live in Minnesota, and snow cover can be spotty in the area where they are planted. Eventually, the plants all recovered but I thought they had died off. Is this normal,or is there something we should do to protect the plants this coming winter? Thanks.
A: A mulch of leaf litter will help protect the plants. That's Mother Nature's way, Also be sure the soil stays moist going into winter, Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
