Pear Apple Tree Has Scale

Question From: d. fields - Oakley, California, United States
Q: I have scale on my pear apple tree and cherry trees have been rinsing with water and have horticultural spray oil

Water will not help Doug, Hort oil will work if applied at the right time. Problem is homeowners don't have the proper tools to provide good coverage to trees. Have a professional do the job, enlist the services of a certified arborist. To find a professional in your area go to www.tcia.org. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.

Q: When is the right time to apply the hot oil this is the oil for plants correct

Doug, It varies, depending on where you live. I live in Michigan and am not familiar with timing in California. I recommend you visit an independent nursery or garden center for advice on this matter. You might also contact your country extension. Coogle Contact (blank) county extension by phone.
