Pear Trees Do Not Get First Leaves

Question From: M. Thornell - Hartville, Ohio, United States
Q: Hi Nancy, Two of my pear trees do not even get their first leaves let alone flowers. They are being eaten by something. Then about a month later the new leaves come through. I cannot see anything on them

My guess is the problem was late season frost, lack of water or immaturity prevented the trees from flowering. Pears flower first and then produce leaves. Be sure to keep them watered if it does not rain for a couple of weeks. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
