Question From: Marietta, Georgia, United States
Q: pear trees, don't know what kind. Have excellent fruit for perserves and eating. Last year a lot of it dropped before ripening. Now within the last few days there are a lot of black leaves on the trees and many little twigs with small pears dropped. Still a lot of pears on the tree. What is the cause of this. Don't think I ever saw that happening in the past 5 or 6 years since we moved to this location.
A: It may be fire blight or another virus. Bag up some samples and take them to a good independent nursery that sells fruit trees in your area. Do not delay, the stuff spreads like wildfire. Best Nancy
