Pest Making Holes In Tomatoes As They Ripen

Question From: R. Cook - Bellaire, Texas, United States
Q: Some pest keeps punching holes in our tomatoes just as they are beginning to really ripen. This draws bugs and ruins the tomotoes. How do we keep the pests away? We already have a 3' fence.

I think you have squirrels dining on your tomats. There is a product Plantskydd that comes in a granular form. I take knee high nylons ( you can buy them at Walmart for 30 cents a pair). Fill one with 1/4 cup of the granular Plantskydd and hang it on the tomato cage. This product is OMRI listed and safe for use around edibles. This also works for bird feeders. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
