Pine Needle Tree Bark Missing In Strips

Question From: C. Frye - Bowdoinham, Maine, United States
Q: Noticed bark missing form our pine needle tree...it is missing on the bottom and up further on the tree, it is missing in strips as if some kind of bug or animal removed it. It is up quite high on the trees. What could be doing this. Some of the smaller trees have died.

A: Bark stripping can caused by weather or animals, such as squirrels. I suggest you have a certified arborist do an onsite inspection. The trees that died may have had other problems. Don't wait. Good Luck, Nancy and Happy Yardening.
