Plant Branches Are Covered With White Fungus

Question From: Leesburg, Florida, United States
Q: My Mollous branches are covered with a white Fungus or?? and those branches are look pretty dead with a few leaves right on the top. Do I cut the whole plant down for it to start up from the bottom? Or do I try and scrape the stems?. It is in a position that gets morning sun but shaded in the afternoon. Has happily lived there for about 10 years.

A: I can't advise you Mary as I live in Michigan and am not familiar with this plant. I suggest you either get an onsite inspection from a certified arborist or take pictures and visit an independent garden center or nursery in your area that would be familiar with this issue . To find an arborist in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code in the search box. I will say scraping the stems will be a waste of time and will do more harm than good.
