Q: My 4 year old poppy plant has numerous buds (yay!) but each bud has a leaf growing out of it or right at the base of the bud. I've never encountered this before. Is this "normal?"

A: Mother nature may be telling you something, but I don't know what it is. I'd do a Google search of mail order houses that grow and sell poppies and send them this photo for an accurate ID. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
