Portaluca Growth Care Seeding And Deer Rabbit Resistance

Question From: NEW JERSEY
Q: I planted portulaca in flower beds with mulch on top. Will the plants spread or reseed themselves? How do they grow/spread? Also, are they deer and rabbit resistent?

Fred, these plants do no like dampness around their crowns so I use pea gravel to mulch them. They thrive in full sun and lean soil. they are low growing spreaders. Check tags of size. If they like where they live the old fashioned varieties will reseed. Rabbits and deer do not usually bother them. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
