Question From: E. BRESLIN - Vero Beach, Florida, United States
Q: .hi nancy my sister in law gave me a beautiful full potted large impatiens plant to be kept in the shade was doing great now has white fungus on it the plant is dying no flowers turning black in the back what can i do

A: Eileen, Your lovely plant has impatiens downy mildew and it's fatal. Package it up in a plastic garbage bag and put it in the trash. This rampant disease has wiped entire crops of these plants. Sun Patiens and New Guinea impatiens are good substitutes. Sorry for your loss. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
