Propagating African Violets With Coffee Ground And Egg Shell Mix

Question From: K. Aughe - Royal Oak, Michigan, United States
Q: Not a question, but a comment about your 8/24 column. Back in the 1950s, my grandmother kept an old coffee pot with spent coffee grounds, broken egg shells and water. She feed her African violets regularly. My father built shelves in all the windows from 1" X 4" lumber and L brackets. She propagated new plants from a leaf and stem in her special concoction until roots appeared, then planted them in good potting soil. It worked. Before her health failed, she had over 100 violets!

Good story Kent. Wish I could visit her collection , Thanks for checking in. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
