Purple Beech Trees Have White Bugs And Brown Shriveled Leaves

Question From: Romulus, Michigan, United States
Q: I have 2 purple beech trees. The top layer of leaves has a sprinkling of white bugs on the under side of the leaves. A sprinkling of brown shreveled leaves and a new layer of green leaves on the bottom layer. Any ideas as to my problem. Thanks for responding.

A: Could be several. After last year's heat and drought trees are badly stressed. I suggest you have an onsite inspection from a local certified arborist. A mis-diagnosis could cost you your trees. Purple beeches are treasures. Get them a checkup from a trained tree doctor. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
