River Birch Tree Leaves Are Yellowing And Have Brown Spots Some Leaves Are Being Eaten

Question From: Wilmington, North Carolina, United States
Q: Our River Birch is getting defoliated. There is evidence of eaten leaves and all leaves have brown spots and look yellowing. We've had alot of rain here in Wilmington NC this summer. The other river birch appears healthy

A: I recommend you have a certified arborist do an onsite inspection. There are probably a couple things going on. Bugs chewing and possibly a fungal issue. There may be other issues you don't see. I don't guess when it comes to trees. Loss is expensive and in some cases irreplaceable. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
