River Birch Trees Seem Stressed And Are Dropping Tiny Black Seeds

Q: I have 4 year old river birch trees and the they are depositing tiny black seed like poppy seeds on the driveway/ There are 3 trees and the center one looks stressed and is loosing leaves. Any thoughts as to what may be going on and what should i do to save these.
