Q: Hi Nancy! My Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) bushes have developed a terrible fuzzy bumpy growth on it's leaves! They appear to be dying from it. What is it? Can it be treated? Should I remove the shrubs and start over again? Zone 9b, central CA, interior

A: Looks like galls to me, but I live in Michigan and am not familiar with CA pests and diseases. Take a few sample to an independent garden center or nursery for an accurate ID and control advice. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
