Rosemary Has Brown Clumps On Stems

Question From: G. Fagin - TENNESSEE
Q: What is wrong with my rosemary? I have been growing one medium-sized bush of rosemary for about 2 years now. I just yesterday noticed strange clumps of brown balls on the sides of the rosemary stems. This looks odd and is a bit disturbing. What should I do?

Sounds like you have scale. It's a bug that in the adult stages forms brown crusty bumps on the needles and stems of rosemary. You can rub them off with a Qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol or spray the plant with a product called AxaMax that is safe for use in edibles. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
