Q: Hi Nancy...Having problem with roses! Have beds on both sides of drive entrance. The drive was pressure cleaned W/ bleach and the following week the roses had dropped there leaves. There is also a short wall behind the roses that was cleaned. Also there is stem die back. Have cut off many. Not to much water..Also have been feed and had a feeding of ironite. This was done prior to the problems. Could the bleach have done this or do you think there is an underlying problem? Spray weekly, too. thanking you in advance...kathy

The bleach may have burned the leaves. How much damage was done is hard to say. I would water heavily to flush the chemical out of the soil. Lack of water could also be an issue. Roses are party girls, they like to drink. In Michigan 5 gallons per plant a week is the rule of thumb. If you have a neighbor who grows great roses, ask how much they water. I'd water twice a week.
