Question From: M. McAleese - Santa Barbara, California, United States
Q: I have a rowan tree which had a branch cut off some years ago (branch looks like you could comfortably get two hands round it and its around 60cm long). Yesterday I noticed some holes on that part of the tree only and some of bark on that area looked loose so I helped off. A bunch of beetle-looking insects with wings were uncovered. Please can you recommend how I can treat it? Will I lose my tree? Yours desperately (PS I'm in Scotland)
A: I am not familiar with that tree, the bugs that attack it or the products available to treat it, as I live in Michigan/USA. I recommend you get an onsite inspection from a trained professional. In the US we call them certified arborist. Google certified arborists in your city. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
