Salt Tolerant Screening Evergreens

Question From: H. Kronenberg - NEW YORK
Q: I am about to plant on a piece of land with bulk head on 85 ft of salt water pond long island ny. I am looking to plant privacy or screening evergreens or something in that nature on either side of this property, are there evergreens that you would recommend that are salt water tolerant or other suggestions Thank you

According to Mike Dirr some of the hollies are salt tolerant, but that's an occasional spray or deposit that is leached out of the soil. I would contact a nursery on your area that specialized in trees and have photos of the planting area. You should also have the soil tested for salt content. Happy Yardening, Nancy.
