Serviceberry Tree Has Green Mold-like Splotches On Trunk

Question From: d. degenaro - Venetia, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: My serviceberry tree has green mold like splotches on the trunk. Is this a worry? If so, what can I do to get rid of the mold?

What you see is probably lichens growing on the trunks. They do not harm the shrub and you may harm the plant trying to get rid of them. Let Mother Nature do her thing. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
