Should Butterfly Bush Stems With Green At Ends Be Cut Down

Question From: Redford Charter Township, Michigan, United States
Q: My butterfly bush has died down after the winter which I understand is normal and it is growing up from the root - but it still has about 8 stems that are growing from the very ends. I have trimmed all the dead stems . Shall I also cut down the stems that have green grown on the ends?

A: I cut those stems down so the bush retains its natural shape. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
