Should Coffee Grounds Be Used Outdoors Only

Question From: B. Morris - Royal Oak, Michigan, United States
Q: We’ve used coffee grounds around inside plants but seems to produce small flies. Is this only meant for outside application? If used outside r there any cautions?b

The coffee grounds are not the source of flies. The flies are soil gnats that often come in the soil of plants. Some folks use them on house plants. I do not and would recommend a light hand when using. As I said in the article if used too thick by themselves they may cake and repel water. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
