Should Crepe Myrtles Be Planted In Michigan

Question From: G. Fate - Charlevoix, Michigan, United States
Q: We live in Charlevoix, just North of the 45th parallel, I would like to plant Crape Myrtle bushes for decorative effect at the lot perimeter. I was unsuccessful finding any plants at local sources last year ( Lowes, Home Depot, Wilsons of Petoskey). Can you recommend any sources.

Sadly crepe myrtles are not hardy here in Michigan. Google the tree for more information. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
