Should Hydrangea Be Deadheaded And Will It Bloom Again If Deadheaded

Question From: Stilwell, Kansas, United States
Q: My big leaf hydrangea is in full bloom and doing wonderfully.Question-will it rebloom if I deadhead it-or SHOULD I deadhead it?

A: If it is a re-blooming hydrangea, such as Endless Summer, removing spent blossoms will encourage reblooming. Older varieties, such as Nickko Blue do not rebloom, but deadheading spent blossoms will keep it tidy looking. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
