Should Leaves Be Raked Off Recently Over Seeded Grass

Question From: Wadena, Minnesota, United States
Q: I over seeded this fall. New grass blend Perennial Rye 44%, Fescue 34%, KBG 20% is coming in well. Wondering about removing the fall leaves that will drop in the next few weeks. Will raking be too Harsh on new shoots?

The best thing to do mow them in the lawn with a mulching mower. They will quickly decompose and amend the soil and feed the grass. It's a win win. If you get loads, use a blower vac. Raking will tear up the tender seedlings. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
