Should Magnolia Tree Be Fertilized To Get Buds To Bloom

Question From: C. Henderson - Anadarko, Oklahoma, United States
Q: I've got a new magnolia its just about 2yrs now. I have flowers but they haven't opened . Do i just leave them alone or add a fertilizer? They're pink and can't wait to see them in full bloom. Appreciate any advice you have for me.

Fertilizer will probably not make the flowers open. Best to be patient and let the tree go at its pace. Do however be sure to keep it watered. The soil should be kept moist, but not sodden. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
