Should Perennial Fern Roots Be Stored Indoors Or In Ground During Winter

Question From: J. Stewart - ILLINOIS
Q: Can I store perennial fern roots in my heated garage( temp 50 ) for the winter or do I need to plant in the ground before the ground freeze's? North Eastern Ilinois

A:

I think they would do best in the ground. I'd cover them with 4 inches or so shredded leaves. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
