Should Soaker Hoses Be Used Even When There Is Frost At Night

Question From: M. Halloran - St. Louis, Missouri, United States
Q: We have a soaker hose in place for nine 7ft. aborvitae trees, that were planted in April. We are in a moderate drought situation of minus 4in. Though we have frost every night now, our daytime temperatures have been in the sixties. I'm tempted to reconnect the soaker hose for two hours today. Would you recommend this?

A: I would continue watering until the ground freezes. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
